Name: Michele Location: Bellingham, Washington Birthday: 10/30/1983 Gender: Female
Interests: I am a Global Studies major. I don't know what I will do with such a major- probably live in a foreign country, eat cheese, develop a thick accent and complain about the Euro.
I play ultimate Frisbee. Frisbee is fun, but only when you don't suck. They say it doesn't matter if you suck, which is only half true. It sucks to suck- even if no one says anything to you about it. I think that I really sucked at first, but I got a little better. Now my only complaint about Frisbee is that spell check requires me to capitalize the first letter. I hate capitalization, except in German. In German it helps, because then you know where all the nouns are in the sentence. I wonder who invented capital letters. Expertise: The elderly.

| Oops. So it looks like I had nothing to say about living in Germany, nor about the months following my return. Now that I am in Palo Alto, perhaps I will live a more inspired (or at least, a more documentable) life.
I am wondering how my Starbucks samples I can get in one day. I have been enjoying a one-sample-per-hour rate so far. The overall experiment is reminding me of microeconomics: utils of happiness derived from a small peppermint mocha sample divided by time spent in Starbucks, over time.
| So now that I am in Germany again, I think I will start up my blog again. I hope no one minds. | | |
| It seems I am all about it. Wikipedia the subject for your general education and enjoyment. | | |
| 3 1/2 weeks left. Yoawzers.
Breathing helps. So too does this recently adopted mantra: it will get done (it has to; it always does). Somehow the knowledge that I must finish makes me think that I just might. May 10th is coming quickly though.
| Today has been wonderful in two ways: I bought a bike and talked in German. Following the find of a perfectly suitable bicycle amongst many refurbished options, murmurings of German filled the air. Very interested, I looked to find whether my ears had deceived me- they had not! Not three feet away stood a couple of German speakers considering a pair of bikes. "Ich nehme es." "Eigentlich mag ich. Wieviel kosten neue Räder?" "Es gehts" Joining the conversation, I learned that the man was from Germany and the woman from Iran. Another man came over; he too spoke German. The joy of having opportunity to use German was surpassed only by the revelation that the conversation was not beyond my ability to comprehend. To be fair though, english words were creeping into their sentences at random, making everything a bit easier to follow. "Die Tires sind bald" After buying the aforementioned bike, Kacie and I want to Target where I bought a helmut.
Yea for German! Yea for bikes!
